We crossed into Texas around 10pm on Saturday night--which immediately turned into 11pm because Texas is in a whole new time zone. After a while we pulled off in Adrian, on Old Route 66, hoping to find a place to stay. Adrian turned out to be a spooky old retro ghost town with no open motels, but we did find a derelict service station with a tree growing through the front. I don't know if it comes through in the pictures, but it was one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen. The tower is a co-op cotton hopper, which are all over Texas. After Adrian we got back on the interstate and ended up driving most of the night.
