New Orleans in spring

Why is there a boat sculpture in this grassy vacant lot? Decorative ironwork... I did not hear a dog, but perhaps it was out somewhere. A classic New Orleans single shotgun house. Shotgun houses are built throughout the South (for example, in Memphis), but I think NOLA has the most. This building used to be a storefront, but now I think it's just someone's house. I love the detail under the awning. It's sunny, warm and beautiful here--some days a bit hot and sticky. It's definitely already springtime.

New apartment, same neighborhood

Above: I love this vintage car. Below: Many older neighborhoods still have brick sidewalks in some parts. This gorgeous church/old folk's home is across the street. This is actually the back. The view from our side window: We've just moved to a lovely new place in the Bywater. We don't have any furniture, but look at those views!

Here is the Bywater

Top to bottom, we've got: one of my dolls chilling in the urban decay, some very classically NOLA houses, and a flower which I'm pretty sure is a sugar magnolia. Did you know magnolias are one of the earliest forms of flower? It's true.
